When hedging makes sense
Hedging trades upside for certainty. It's most useful on a future or a parlay that's one leg away: a ticket that pays big if it lands but busts otherwise. If the other side's price has shortened since you bet, a hedge converts that paper edge into cash you keep whichever way it falls.
How the stake is worked out
The tool sizes the hedge so the net result is identical on both outcomes. It multiplies your original stake by your decimal odds and divides by the hedge's decimal odds, then shows the locked profit and the return on your total outlay. If the locked number is negative, the line moved against you and a hedge would only freeze a loss.

Treat the open ticket's potential payout as your 'original' return, then bet the other side at the current price.
